Oakestown Intermediate Springs Forward

Now that the basic structure of Oakestown Intermediate has begun to take shape, the school is starting to receive its fixtures and finishes.

The doors and cabinetry for classrooms have arrived, and are currently in the gym eagerly awaiting their installation.

Throughout the school, flooring is in the finishing stages. The art classroom pictured above received an epoxy floor, whereas the STEM classrooms are getting polished concrete.

In the breakout rooms, the ceiling framing has gone up, which means the rooms are close to getting their finishing touches.

Framing is also being completed in the future media center - the top photo shows what the space looked like after demolition had been completed but before any framing started.

In other ceiling news, the ceilings in the team rooms have been finished and coated with sound absorption spray, which helps with noise control. Some interior classrooms will receive this treatment as well.

Around the back of the school, the back parking lot is being repaved. Currently, trucks are cutting off the top 4 inches of the current lot, which will allow for new asphalt to be poured.

Stay tuned to this blog to watch as the building and its surroundings continue to come together!
