The classrooms may be quiet, but there’s plenty of progress happening across our district! This summer, we’re making important behind-the-scenes upgrades that help our schools function efficiently every day. At the Grandville Transportation Building, facility improvements are underway to better support our bus operations. Meanwhile, at Century Park Learning Center, a boiler replacement is ensuring students and staff will return to a warm, reliable learning environment come fall.
Grandville Transportation Improvements
Since our last update introducing the new Bus Garage and Weller Auto Tech Building, steady progress has continued across the site. The mezzanine flooring has been poured and will serve as a space for parts storage and two mechanical rooms. The building will also feature heated sidewalks and garage floors to improve safety and functionality year-round. Overhead garage doors are expected to arrive within the next two weeks, while the jib crane and bus lifts will be installed toward the end of the project.
In addition to this work, the old maintenance shop has been demolished and replaced with a new structure. Framing is complete, with 15-foot-9-inch ceilings, and roofing is scheduled to begin soon. Underground plumbing will be installed next week, followed by floor pouring. Lastly, the new salt storage building is nearly complete and wrapping up final touches.
Century Park Learning Center
Century Park Learning Center is receiving key infrastructure upgrades to support a more efficient and reliable heating system. The project includes the installation of two new boilers, along with two tankless water heaters and four new circulation pumps. These improvements will help ensure consistent heating and hot water throughout the building, creating a more comfortable and energy-efficient environment for students and staff.
These projects support our ongoing commitment to maintaining safe, efficient, and future-ready facilities across the district. Whether it's supporting transportation needs, improving heating systems, or upgrading essential infrastructure, each improvement plays a vital role in creating the best possible environment for students and staff. We look forward to sharing more progress as these projects move toward completion.
