Last week, students from Grandville High School had the opportunity to get a closer look at the construction happening at Grandville's Transportation Center, led by O-A-K superintendents Jacob Scholma and Megan Wilson. Check out photos of their visit below!

Megan and Jacob explained how different utilities, like plumbing and electrical, are installed, and how they keep subcontractors from different trades aligned and on-track.

In the above photo, the students stand inside the future "Building A", which will house restrooms and a lounge area for transportation staff.

Jacob and Megan also took the group to the future retention pond, which will collect rainwater and runoff to prevent flooding and soil erosion. They also explained how the wooden stakes around the pond are used for surveying and how the stakes' locations are stored in other safe locations in case one accidentally gets knocked over or removed.
The same group of students will be re-visiting in the spring, by which point the Transportation Center will look a lot different!
